You know what it's like when you go to a garden center and see all these beautiful flower seedlings; you just can’t resist buying a few because you automatically imagine a spot in your garden where they will look great. Well … we are the same; we just love adding more flowers to our garden; the more, the prettier.
This time our star is a beautiful purple Primrose (Primula vulgaris), which we saw in our local garden center and fell in love with for its vibrant color. Primroses are one of the first flowers that appear in spring, so you can plant Primrose seedlings even in February; they will withstand the frost.
Our garden is very close to the forest, and we have frequent visits from wild animals.
Roe deer come for the fresh grass almost every morning, but they also enjoy eating flowers and bushes, and sometimes they are really naughty! They ate our roses, which we planted near the house, presuming they wouldn't come so close. We were wrong; the flowers were eaten instantly; the next morning nothing was left from the beautiful roses, not even a single bud! So we learned our lesson. When choosing new additions to our garden, we should carefully pick plants that wild animals don’t find so delicious. Primulas are excellent deer-resistant plants perfect for open spaces where wild animals often visit. We will keep planting more of them.
