There is nothing that adds such charm to a property than a beautifully landscaped garden. If you want to have a stunningly looking garden all year round, you should choose the right shrubs and plants so in each season there is something that blossoms and attracts attention.

It’s the beginning of September, and a lot of things have happened in our garden. It’s our second year growing vegetables on our land, and every month we learn something new. We still try to figure out what’s best to grow here - what thrives and what dies—because not everything you sow or plant will reward your work.

Following our dream to become self-sufficient, we are developing our garden project, planting many different vegetables, just to see what we can grow on our land. After so many years living in a flat, having a place where we can grow our food is a huge change and also a huge challenge to get used to all that hard physical work. :)

You know what it's like when you go to a garden center and see all these beautiful flower seedlings; you just can’t resist buying a few because you automatically imagine a spot in your garden where they will look great. Well … we are the same; we just love adding more flowers to our garden; the more, the prettier.

We got the keys to our new home in the autumn of 2022. We stayed for two weeks, locked the house, and left. It wasn’t suitable for living, not even imagining spending the cold winter here. We had to return to our rented flat and start making plans for the house renovation.

In autumn we planted some hardy vegetables and left them covered, hoping this will protect them during the cold days. Then we left the house and came back in January for some house reconstruction work.

Our dream about having a house in Slovenia started in 2009. At that time we used to live in Spain, and once, travelling across Europe, we took a wrong way and entered Slovenia. We actually did not realise where we were, so we had to check on the map what this beautiful place we were crossing was.
