In autumn we planted some hardy vegetables and left them covered, hoping this will protect them during the cold days. Then we left the house and came back in January for some house reconstruction work.
We know winter isn’t the best time for such things, but builders are hard to find here, so you have to agree to their terms. It’s our first winter in the house, and we are quite unprepared to face it. We quickly realized that the house cannot be properly heated because it has a bad roof. We naively allowed the seller to mislead us that everything was OK; sadly, it’s not! So it is better to find ourselves some physical activity outside to warm up instead of using electricity to warm the sky above our house.
After the snowfall, our garden is covered with a thick blanket of wet snow. We have never planted anything before on this land and are really excited to see what happened to our garden and if the plants survived the freezing temperatures. We have to find our veggie beds and check what’s under their covers. Watch our YouTube video to see what we found!
Growing vegetables is something new for us on our way to becoming self-sufficient and one of the main reasons we bought this property and moved to Slovenia. If you want to follow our gardening progress, please subscribe to our channel for more news from our beautiful land.
